Samuel Barbas is a Greek-Australian filmmaker and screenwriter working across psychological thriller, drama, horror, and elevated genre. His work explores identity, repression, and inner rupture through character-driven stories that blur the lines between realism, genre, and metaphysical inquiry.

Drawing on an unconventional background in civil engineering and elite-level football, Samuel’s storytelling navigates the tension between logic and chaos, control and vulnerability — often through protagonists spiralling toward reckoning. His style is marked by visceral intensity, emotional depth, and thematic boldness.

He is the founder of November 3 Productions,  as a writer and director, Partnered with streamer-distributor DINGOO , a new Australian streaming platform helping filmmakers connect, share, and distribute their work. His psychological thriller Natalie Was A Friend Of Mine and political sports drama Pressing have secured development funding and are currently in active development.  Samuel works closely with producers Gabriel Robinson, writers Simon Thompson, cinematographers Toby Bajrovic and Dominic Bleijie; and actors Bruno Attanasio, Michael Sheasby and Maeve Dermody.

Samuel’s work seeks to build a body of genre-pushing, soul-searching films that challenge convention and reflect the fractured complexities of modern identity — stories that dare to be mythic, dangerous, and alive.
